Design brief: design a laptop desk

For manufacture, it must be CNC milled from sheet material. For shipping, it must be flat packed. Finally and most importantly, it must be easy to assemble without tools or hardware. This was a school project in Winter 2018 for DES402: furniture design with Cezary Gajewski.

The first concept, dubbed The knot with a second working surface below.
The second idea, The Station featuring a prominent laptop stand.
The final concept, with angles inspired from a picnic table and curves to show the CNC milling.
A first ideation of the joinery necessary for the angles in the last concept. It was a personal goal to make this without hardware.
A feature drawing explaining the importance of cable management and a potential solution.
The 2 positions for a laptop on The Station: one for working and one for quick charging.
Showing how to maximise working surface with curves along the front edge and a shelf on the back.
